Artwork from old file folders

An artwork made from recycled plastic! It’s made from old file folders. When the Hague based insurance company Onderlinge ‘s Gravenhage switched to a completely digital database they didn’t know what to do with all the old file folders. We’ve transformed over 2000 old plastic file folders into a unique installation in the center of their new building.

DESIGN PROCESS

Surprise, surprise

It consists of a total of 1000 individual pixels that make up actually two images. When looking from the ground floor the visitor will see the silhouette of two hands shaking, the company logo of Onderlinge. When going to the first floor all of sudden the artwork changes shape by a visual effect. You’ll see the shape of a human head appearing. In line with their company vision of putting the human central in their daily work.

Inspire & activate

Sustainability can be quite an abstract term, especially for an insurance company. With this artwork we created a tangible example of the value of recycling plastic, having the employees and visitors of Onderlinge rethink the concept of waste. The Dutch prime minister was certainly inspired by it during the official opening.
