Solution
We developed a custom plastic mix that included low-quality recycled plastics combined with sand. This innovative mix provided the necessary structural integrity and performance, turning a challenging material into a high-performing product.
Adding sand to the mix addressed the need for non-slip surfaces while also strengthening the blocks. We adapted an existing machine and production process to suit the unique requirements of producing these large, solid blocks. This involved adjusting the machine to press the materials under high pressure to achieve the desired results.

Process
Our collaboration involved rigorous testing with various institutions to assess the mechanical properties of the blocks, their resistance to wear and tear, and their reaction to UV radiation and tire friction. Despite using lower-quality plastics, our mix resulted in a product with superior strength, allowing for a thinner design without compromising durability.
To enhance longevity and minimize wear, we incorporated specific additives. The blocks are designed to endure occasional vehicular contact, providing a robust solution for road safety and noise reduction.
Better Future Factory supported the entire development process, from creating the custom plastic mix to adapting the machine and production process, prototyping, as well as conducting comprehensive product testing. Our expertise in sustainable design and engineering ensured a solution that meets high environmental and performance standards.

Sustainability
This project exemplifies our commitment to sustainability by transforming low-quality plastics into durable products, preventing incineration and promoting constructive use. Manufacturing these blocks requires only a fraction of the energy needed for concrete, significantly enhancing their environmental impact. Our development of a custom plastic mix and adaptation of the production process resulted in a solution that meets high environmental standards. This project highlights our ability to turn challenging materials into innovative, economically viable solutions, promising large-scale production. Let’s continue to turbocharge sustainable innovation together.
